To Tennant Creek

Having a terrible time getting photos accepted for this blog and then getting them to stay in the correct place, sorry about the poor quality of some photos.

11/6/16

Sunrise today a little early due to the fact that we are only 10 minutes from the NT border.  Lovely quiet spot all night, especially considering there are so many vans out here. Definitely the best free camp so far.

Left Camooweal around 7.20 and crossed the border soon after. Quite windy and cool today, the wind very noticeable towing the van and playing havoc with fuel consumption.
After all the roadkill in outback  Queensland, it is amazing how little there is in the NT. From at least 1 every 100m to 1 calf in the last 440k. Either the roos and wild pigs etc. are smarter in the NT or they've been culled….a lot.
We are spending a couple of nights in Tennant  Creek, arrived for late lunch, staying in a caravan park and catching up on washing and housework (the housework took about 15 mins). Washing dry in a couple of hours. It’s not hot but quite windy.

All along the road you can see termite mounds and some people have dressed them up in clothes, some more imaginative than others. This one to the left was the only one I could get a photo of as we sped past, not long before there was a whole family!

We’re guessing 05 is heading to Darwin for the V8 super car races

Our view through the windscreen today changed a little along the way, again from open plains to low bushes, sometimes trees lining the roadside. Some shrubs in flower, put on a lovely display at odd times but mostly dry.

At one stage the roadside was green on one side and dry on the other, without any obvious reason.
